EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)

EMDR integrates elements of many effective psychotherapies in structured protocols that are designed to maximize treatment effects. EMDR is an INFORMATIONAL PROCESSING THERAPY and uses an eight phase approach. EMDR is a powerful healing method that can relieve troubling symptoms and significantly shorten the length of treatment.

Following a specifically designed protocol, the process of EMDR involves bilateral stimulation (using eye movements, auditory tones or tapping), focusing on images, thoughts, emotions and body sensations associated with a particular traumatic event or negative belief.

After EMDR processing, clients generally report that the emotional distress related to distressing memories or negative beliefs have been eliminated, or greatly decreased, and that they have gained important cognitive insights. The emotional and cognitive changes usually result in spontaneous behavioral and personal change, which are further enhanced with standard EMDR procedures.
